The Organizing Committee is pleased to offer a special event marathon race to be held at the conclusion of our national championship classes at the 2023 APBA Stock, Modified and Junior National Championships this summer in Wakefield MI. And we need your help!
Take a look at a couple exciting race formats below and make your vote for which event to hold at the nationals this summer. Voting will remain open until March 20, 2023 at 9pm EST. Don't delay!!
You must provide your APBA Member # when you vote.

Option A
Relay Marathon Hydroplane vs. Runabout
Details
Lemans Start or Clock Start – determined by amount of entries
Team Definitions:
Teams are comprised of one hydroplane and one runabout. Pairings are required to be as follows – OMC/Sidewinder WITH Yamato/Mercury OR DSR WITH OMC/Sidewinder (ASR ONLY). Example 1: 15SSH with CSR – Example 2: ASR with CSH – Example 3: BSH with ASR – Example 4: DSR with ASH
Not scored for any APBA points – purely fun!
4 Laps TWICE (Hydro completes 4 laps, hands off to runabout, refuels while runabout runs 4 laps. Runabout comes in, hydro goes back out to complete another 4 laps, etc.)
Relay style hand off for team member to go – either an object to be passed OR crossing a determined threshold
Course will follow the outskirts of Sunday Lake and not include any right hand turns
“Winner” is determined by time – whichever team completes their lap total the quickest
Option B
Relay Marathon Runabout Team
Details
Lemans Start or Clock Start – determined by amount of entries
Team Definitions:
Teams are comprised of one of each of the following – ASR, 15SSR, 25SSR, CSR, AND DSR. A slower class can be swapped in for a faster class in the event that a team cannot find another member. Example 1: ASR, ASR, 25SSR, CSR, AND DSR. Example 2: ASR, 15SSR, 25SSR, 25SSR, DSR.
Not scored for any APBA points – purely fun!
4 Laps Each
Relay style hand off for team member to go – either an object OR crossing a determined threshold
Course will follow the outskirts of Sunday Lake and include MINIMALLY one right hand turn, if not two.
“Winning” team is determined by time – whichever team has all members complete their 4 laps the quickest
